My Revelation on Worship

Okay, so I promised to write a post on my revelation of worshipping, so, here it is 🙂 If you have not read the first post on this topic, please check out it out HERE! First of all, I want to thank the people who replied and left comments, your answers are greatly appreciated! Okay, so here we go…

 

My experience: If it was beyond my closed bedroom doors, I was scared to worship God. I desired to worship so freely, but I was so intimidated by other people’s thoughts. I was previously terrified to raise my hands and praise God, as a matter of fact, there was a time where I was even afraid to clap my hands! 

As you just read, I was scared of other people’s thoughts about me, but here is how God brought me through this, this is my breakthrough moment:

God asked me this question, “What do you think about people who truly worship Me?”

My response, “Well, I think they are brave, devoted, passionate, bold, fearless, free, and pretty awesome”

God’s response to me after that is quite funny~

 He said, “And you are scared people are going to think those things about you?! You are scared that people will think you are bold and devoted?!”

After slapping my face in a complete, ‘duh!’ moment, let me just say, MESSAGE RECEIVED! Sometimes I can be so oblivious, even to things I wonder about! God is so awesome! He is really funny, too! Thank You Jesus 🙂

I know I am not sharing this just for me, this is meant for somebody, I believe it! Worship and praise God with no limits!! Even if there are people who think negative things about you, that is not your problem, that is between them and God! BE FREE! 

Here are three of the replies I had to this question and my response to them:

K marie “I think that it is good to be passionate about worship as long as it is genuine. I enjoy the people at my church who are so deeply moved by the service that they put up their hands. As long as they are not doing it to impress people around them and they are genuinely praising God with zeal then I think it can be a positive thing.”

My response: I agree with this. People are either scared of what people think, so they don’t do anything, or they are scared of other’s thoughts, so they fake it. Neither way is appropriate, though. Worship is NOT about what people think about you. The only thing you need to be concerned about is: God and you. That’s it.

twilightpaint “I agree with K Marie, but sadly some of the people at our church do not raise their hands. But my family does and I can sometimes feel awkward that sometimes we are the only one who raises our hands. But our people at church do sing aloud, so I am great full for that. I totally love worshiping and singing to our God”

My response: You go girl 🙂 I understand that there are times you may feel awkward, but keep digging deeper! Forget your surroundings, this is a time for you and God, and you two only!

Another thought I have to go with it, though, is what if you don’t raise your hands or show outward emotion because you’re scared of what others will think? I struggle with this since I’m shy. I know we all worship in our own ways, but I’m not sure NOT raising my hands (because I’m scared) is any better than doing it for attention.”

My Response: Oh my goodness! So this lovely lady responded after I wrote this post, but before I had published it!! God is good! Basically this whole post is my response to her!

Takeaway: Worship and praise God no matter what! Do not worry about other’s thoughts. This is between you and God, not man!

**Let me just say, I am still learning how to completely let go of myself during worship, but I did take a HUGE leap!**

Prayer:

Thank You Jesus! Thank you for this revelation! I pray that this will affect people, I pray it will touch their Spirit. I pray that it will compel people to freely worship You with ALL of their heart! I pray for breakthroughs in EVERY life right now, in the name of Jesus. I ask that each one of Your sons and daughters that may struggle with this,  may leap forward into You, with NO fear. I declare these things in the name of Jesus. Amen!
